Today’s guest is Karin York, is an Academic Intervention Specialist in the Dysart Unified School District, located in Surprise, Arizona. She and her family are creating a neighborhood coffee shop for her son Spencer, and other adults with autism to be able to work at and gain skills for long term employment.
A Valley man who has Down syndrome is close to opening up his own coffee shop, and some specialty T-shirts are helping him raise the cash to get started.
A Surprise woman is making her dream a reality by opening a coffee shop that will be run and operated by individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Karin York has done just about everything when it comes to helping individuals with disabilities.
That is, except have her own coffee shop employed by them. But she’s well on her way.
An Arizona mom is fulfilling a need in her community with “an inclusive coffee shop and bistro” that will employ adults with cognitive and developmental delays.
This foundation was created by Spencer's family so that they could get help to open the doors to Spencer's Place.
What makes this place REALLY special is Spencer, who is an adult with Down Syndrome with a dream of being a successful businessman while helping people and employing his friends.
